Housing Department has introduced a Mass Housing Scheme, "Nijashree" to provide "Basa" (house) at affordable price to the families of West Bengal belonging to LIG and MIG Categories. Government has provided land free of cost for this project and fund for development of land, and off side infrastructure like as construction of internal road-ways, boundary wall, outside electrification, making of drainage system and installation of light in the campus etc.

Monthly family income should be Rs. 15,000/- or less for LIG flat (1BHK) and Rs. 30,000/- or less for MIG flat (2BHK) . The average price of 1BHK flat of 35.15 sq.m. covered area is Rs. 7.20 Lakh and the average price of 2BHK flat of 50.96 sq.m. covered area is Rs. 9.28 Lakh. Construction work at 4 sites is completed where possession letter has also been issued in favour of the beneficiaries and work in another 7 sites is in progress.
